This ETP model curve which apparently is eq #7 ETP/lb]/Gb=[[(mc∗cc+mw∗cw)(TR−TO)]/mc]/Gb as far as I can see tells you the thermal energy potential stored in oil per unit mass. Of course all that is lost as the oil is lifted and transfers heat into the cooler upper layers of ground. What that has to do with entropy I don't know, what that has to do with oil prices I'm at an even far greater loss to take a guess.

Equation #7 is directly derived from the Entropy Rate Balance Equation for Control Volumes, which is a second law statement. The second law is inviolate throughout the universe. The output of the Entropy Rate Balance Equation for Control Volumes is the rate of entropy increase in the system. It's a really cool formula that is designed to do that. It is very accurate. In the Etp model, the mass of the oil (and water), as well as heat, are removed from the control volume. The resultant increase in the rate of entropy production in the system is the output of Equation #7. Each barrel of oil gets harder (i.e. more energetically expensive) to lift because of increasing entropy.

p.p.s. Es wundert mich, dass der Report der Hills Group nicht weitere Wellen im Forum geschlagen hat. Sollte das ETP-Modell der Hills Group zutreffen, bedeutet das den Untergang unserer Zivilisation in einigen wenigen Jahren.

Der gesunkene Ölpreis, die starke Verschuldung von Ölkonzernen und Erzeugerstaaten bei gleichzeitiger Erhöhung der Produktion, sowie das Unvermögen derselben neue (mit positivem EROEI erschließbare) Reserven zu erschließen sind meiner Ansicht nach alles Indizien für die Richtigkeit des Modells, da genau so vorhergesagt.
