Der Sourcecode von Firefox ist komplett offen. Aber das sind inzwischen etwa 13 Mio. Zeilen Code (ohne Kommentare und Leerzeilen - s. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lines_of_Code ):

Und dann gibt es inzwischen tausende Flags (in URL-Feld about:config eingeben), die man einstellen kann. Von denen gibt es einige, die auch mit Datenweitergabe u.a. an die Mozilla Foundation zu tun haben. Nur um DAMIT sich auszukennen, muss man ziemlich viel Zeit investieren, also ganz zu schweigen vom Finden von Hintertürchen in 13 Mio. Zeilen Code.
So ähnlich ist es dann bei anderen komplexen Programmen: MS Office, CAD-Programme, FEM-Programme etc. - aber auch Opensource-Programme wie LibreOffice!
